CABERNET SAUVIGNON – A PLANETARY TOUR
Taberna Wine Academy is pleased to host a tutored tasting of wines made solely or predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal grape variety of the top Medoc estate of Bordeaux – wines that have been much admired and emulated all over the planet.

In this tasting, Tan Ying Hsien will lead a wine tutorial drawing on examples from the Medoc as well as other regions that have successfully adopted the variety such as Napa Valley and Margaret River.

ZIND-HUMBRECHT MATRIX MASTERCLASS WITH OLIVIER HUMBRECHT MW
Taberna is pleased to host a masterclass of Zind-Humbrecht wines led by Olivier Humbrecht MW.
The matrix tasting is a combination of a vertical tasting of Brand Rieslings from 2011 to 1997 and a horizontal tasting of 2007. Rieslings from Brand, Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain and Clos Windsbuhl.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was formed when the Humbrechts of Gueberschwihr (since 1620) and Zinds of Wintzenheim united in 1959. Before this, each of the families were producing and selling wines under their own names. Since the early 1990s, the domaine has been run by Olivier Humbrecht MW, France’s first Master of Wine in 1988.
The domaine, which includes some of the finest vineyards in France, has been at the head of a crusade for lower yields, natural winemaking and wines that are terroir-driven. (Grape varieties rather than soils have been the focus of Alsace for many generations.)
In his pursuit to produce the finest wine possible, Olivier has constantly experimented with various viticultural and vinification techniques, balancing innovation with the best age-old winemaking traditions. The domaine was also the first in Alsace to be 100% biodynamic in 1997, later certified in 2002.
All these efforts both in the vineyards and in the cellar culminate in wines that are not only extraordinarily full flavoured and complex but also age very impressively (lower-level cuvees included). ... See more
