
The Master’s Series: Discovering White Burgundy – Appellations and Quality

| $375The Master’s Series on Discovering White Burgundy continues with an exploration of the appellation and quality system in Burgundy. The roots of the French appellation contrôlée system are closely tied to the historical development of identifying the quality of specific vineyard sites in Burgundy. In a way the encapsulation of what might be loosely described as “terroir” is no better described than in those rules governing Burgundy.
Join us for a tour of the different quality levels as now prescribed by the appellation laws for Burgundy using top quality examples from across the spectrum of Burgundy from Chablis to the Mâcon, with a good smattering of grand cru white burgundies to demonstrate the pinnacle of the quality hierachy.
The series will be conducted by first and only Singaporean Master of Wine, Mr Tan Ying Hsien MW. Ying has spoken on wine in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, London, Ningxia and Perth. He has judged at international wine competitions frequently, including the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition and Decanter Asia Wine Awards. Ying is also very engaged in the education programme of the Institute of Masters of Wine mentoring and advising a number of students world-wide.
